A Statement on Nutrition

Even with life expectancy increasing we are still a nation of sick people whose quality of life is diminished. Chris Apostol, in his book, High Health, makes this statement: "...cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes -- are diseases of lifestyle. They result from the way we eat, from an unhealthy environment, and from the stresses of our daily lives."

Most of us will quickly admit that the American diet is desecrated, corrupted, and polluted. Anti-nutrient foods, which used to be considered recreational foods, are now mainstays of the American diet.

We have become a nation whose diet is unbalanced and deficient in many, if not all, of the basic nutrients the body needs to function even marginally. Many of today's foods are manufactured for taste and don't even fit into recognized food groups. Much of our once rich soil no longer contains essential nutrients required for good health. Our foods are defiled in the field with pesticides and herbicides, and further polluted with preservatives and chemicals in processing.

Because so many are aware of this problem, there has been an explosion in the supplemental nutrition industry, fad diets, and in the science and pseudo science supporting them. Claimed benefits range from positive to miraculous to ridiculous, all endorsed by M.D.'s, PhD's, celebrities, M.P.'s, even the New York Police Department, and/or anyone else with a degree of credibility.

When we consider this, we may honestly ask, "How can so many diets and supplemental programs with such a diverse range of products claim the same degree of success?" There is an answer and it says volumes about the way we eat and care for our bodies. Here's the answer. The deficiency spectrum is so broad, that almost any fad diet or supplement can be a nutritional upgrade, and initiate some positive response. Consequently, any fad diet or nutritionally sound product can claim success -- even some dramatic results -- depending upon the degree of deficiency of a given consumer.

Given the extent of the nutrition problem we must look to ourselves for the answer. Chris Apostol explains it this way: "The single most important step you can take to improve your overall sense of well being and your long term health is to improve your nutrition! Our conscious task is to assist our bodies in their quest to live long, healthy, happy productive lives."

As an example, we must ingest and balance the essential fatty acids, principally the Omega 3 fatty acids, plus the full spectrum of bio-available minerals in adequate amounts -- or we will pay dearly for this oversight -- regardless of how healthy we feel now, and how nutritious and all-encompassing we consider our diet to be.

In High Health, Chris goes on to say, "I strongly recommend Aloe Vera, Flax, and OptiMin™ AC minerals...I consider these supplements to be foundation nutrients..."
